This has been one hot summer! Cool off at the next Green Drinks Lansing on August 3 at Tavern On The Square.

What is Green Drinks Lansing? It’s part meet-up, part networking event. It’s where you get the skinny on a different environmental topic each month and chit-chat with the people at the center of local initiatives.

Last time, Green Drinks Lansing featured multi-modal transportation and this month continues the transportation theme with some Q&A on emissions reduction efforts in greater Lansing. Reducing vehicle emissions is key for reducing dangerous ground-level ozone rates on hot summer days. When emissions from vehicles chemically react with sunlight and heat we get poor air quality that threatens public health.

Join us for Green Drinks Lansing next Friday. Come mingle around 5:30 p.m. and take in a brief question & answer session at 6:00 p.m. The Q&A is followed by time to network with speakers and other Green Drinks Lansing enthusiasts. Our speakers this month are:

Woody Campbell, Owner, Green Cab – Green Cab’s approach to getting you where you need to go is to offer cabs that run on clean, alternative fuels and hybrid-electric cabs.

Maggie Striz Calnin, Executive Director, Greater Lansing Area Clean Cities – GLACC is coordinating two projects to help school districts and MSU reduce emissions from their diesel vehicles. Register today!

Who’s organizing this? Let us introduce ourselves:
Allie Muchmore is the Special Projects Associate at the Michigan Environmental Council and Kristin Jobin is the Greater Lansing Area Clean Cities Program Assistant. We both graduated from Michigan State University, love the mitten state, and are coordinating Green Drinks Lansing as a platform for ideas to spark, creative discussions to develop, and people to learn new ways to move mid-Michigan forward.
